The Sacred Stones Trilogy
There will be spoilers because I need to get this off my chest
Just finished this series by Kate Golden. I’m rating it 2.75/5
Here are my overall thoughts:
Hot take: IMO the plot of Dawn of Onyx was better than Quicksilver, which I read before this series.
Arwen annoyed me the first book
A Promise of Periodt was the best book of the series
The author is good at writing spice scenes so idk why she holds back so much. The first book was giving YA, the tension could have used some teasing or some spice. The other issue is that they get interrupted more than once, which is annoying like that’s a thing that should happened once a series. It was used too often and not for good enough reasons.
My favorite characters: Dagan, Mari, Griffin, Kane
I feel like Kane got over the fact that his own FATHER was trying to sleep with his wife a little too fast. We should have let that simmer more. Cause if Xaden’s dad kidnapped and tried bedding Violet there would be hell to pay.
The series felt unfinished and the ending was rushed for no reason. The author ended the series basically saying there’s still so much we don’t know aka so many plot points I’m not going to get to but I’ve ran out of time so I’m just going to chalk it up to “the future is unknown but bright”. Three books is more than enough pages to fit all that stuff in and tie up loose ends.
One of the main things is Mari x Griffin don’t end up together??? They didn’t have a falling out you just made them so stubborn that over 3 books they couldn’t admit their obvious feelings for each other?? You made it so that she’s practically immortal like him yet ran out of time to wrap their story up? Don’t PMO
Did I miss the part where they found beth’s dad? Also, how did she just end up being with them 24/7 like why wouldn’t she be with her mom?
Dagan’s letter made me tear up but she should have read it sooner and it would have hit harder when the wound was still fresh.
Arwen getting pregnant 10 months after the war, how are you forgetting this GIRL is still only like 21 years old with a guy 200 years+?? I get it centuries are nothing for age gaps in fantasy and she just saved the world. but still she was just born yesterday and you’re already knocking her up? At least time jump 5 years.
